Independent Oracle EPM Planning consultant

When Excel reaches its limit, finance needs a better way to plan

With 16 years of experience in Oracle EPM Planning, I help finance teams move budgeting, forecasting and profitability planning into a purpose-built system - so less time goes into manual work, and more goes into accurate decisions.

The person behind the work

I found my way to Planning unexpectedly

I applied for an IT position, thinking it could be a first step toward development. Instead, I moved into Planning implementation and took on responsibility across the work of an entire department. Over time, I learned to connect the financial questions behind a plan with the technical decisions that make it work.

Today I work across the full lifecycle: understanding needs and financial logic, advising finance teams, designing and building the solution, developing and testing it, then deploying, training and supporting the people who use it.

Why automate the right work

The goal isn't a new system. It's a better workday

For this client, we focused on the parts of budgeting and forecasting that took the most time in Excel and automated them in the planning system.

Built in focused steps, with your team

The process starts with understanding the business, then moves into practical delivery - one model at a time.

01

Intro call

A short phone call to understand the situation and see whether it makes sense to continue.

02

Needs & proposal

A one-hour meeting to understand your needs and define the scope, held remotely if you prefer, followed by a clear proposal.

03

Data & design

After signing, I map the overall data structure and build the interfaces that bring data in from other systems.

04

Agile model delivery

We define each model together, I build it, and your team tests it while I move on to the next model.

One project, end to end

Requirements analysis, financial consultation, technical design, implementation, development, testing, deployment, training, project management and ongoing support.

What you gain

Improving budgeting and forecasting

I help finance teams streamline budget planning and rolling forecasting, shorten budget and forecast preparation time, and improve planning accuracy.

With models tailored to the organization, integration with actual data and automation of planning processes, teams can reduce manual work and minimize errors.

Organized management of budget and forecast scenarios, together with a simple, easy-to-use version-saving mechanism, supports accurate data analysis and quick preparation of an income statement (P&L), a balance sheet, a cash flow statement and a financial ratios report. This enables budgetary control, investigation of budget versus actual results, and budget variance analysis to understand the underlying causes.

This leaves finance teams more time to analyze data, draw insights and make decisions.

A good working partnership

A planning project works best when finance is part of the process

Their input helps shape a system that reflects your organization's needs and business rules.

  • Finance stakeholders who can explain the current process and priorities.
  • Timely feedback and testing as each model is delivered.
  • Access to the source systems and the people responsible for their data.
